Professional Employment

Xiang Gao received his B.Sc. (2006) and Ph.D. (2011) from Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He joined Beijing Computational Science Research Center as Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Quantum Optics and Quantum Information in 2011. He has been an adjunct researcher and member of Center for Atomic and Molecular Nanosciences, Tsinghua University since 2012. He was a Visiting Associate Professor at University at Buffalo, SUNY (Fall 2014) in the Department of Physics. He is a member of Committee on Computational Atomic and Molecular Physics, Chinese Computational Physics Society (2012- ). 


Research Interest

Researches are concentrated on the studies of quantum many-body problems in atomic, molecular and cluster systems, with the aid of modern computational science. To develop computational methods for describing various physical properties as well as dynamical processes of such physical systems quantitatively. More specifically: 


(1) The electronic structure theory of highly excited atomic and molecular systems. 

(2) The dynamical processes in atoms and molecules. 

(3) The properties of matter under extreme conditions.
